Your privacy – Our commitment

Protecting your privacy is important to Valley Community Bank and our employees. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. In order to provide our customers with a broad range of financial products and services as effectively and conveniently as possible, we use technology to collect, manage, disseminate and maintain customer information. The following policy serves as a standard for all Valley Community Bank employees for collection, use, retention, disclosure and security of nonpublic personal information.

“Nonpublic personal information” is personally identifiable financial information about you that is not publicly available, such as the information we obtain about you in connection with financial products or services you apply for or obtain from us, as well as information regarding your account balance, payment history and overdraft history, and even the fact that you are our customer.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We may collect “nonpublic personal information” about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us or others; and
  • Information we receive from third parties such as a consumer reporting agency.

WHAT INFORMATION WE DISCLOSE, AND TO WHOM

We may disclose all of the nonpublic personal information about you that we collect, as described in the WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT section immediately preceding. However, we will do so only as permitted by law. This permission allows us to disclose such information, for example:

  • To our service providers, such as check printers, ATM networks and our data/item processor, in order to maintain and service your account(s). These disclosures are on a confidential basis, intended solely to allow the other party to assist us in providing financial services to you. Each of these parties has entered into a contractual agreement with Valley Community Bank that prohibits any disclosure or use of the information other than to carry out the purposes for which the information is given.
  • To comply with subpoenas, court orders and legal reporting requirements, such as reporting certain transactions and payments to the Internal Revenue Service and other governmental agencies.
  • To credit reporting agencies and similar organizations, such as ChexSystems, Equifax, Experian and Trans Union Corporation.
  • To someone who provides us with your written consent, such as a request for account verification.

If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to hold the information we have about you pursuant to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.

OUR SECURITY PROCEDURES

We also take steps to safeguard customer information. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information, and we restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. Employees who violate these standards will be subject to disciplinary measures.
